World's First
Circumnavigation
of Tierra del Fuego by Sea Kayak
November 2009
Virginia Beach, VA (US) -
Manta Ventures, LLC is proud to sponsor Marcus Demuth and Biff Wruszek
during their attempt to be the first people to ever circumnavigate the
dangerous waters of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina via sea kayaks.
In December 2009, Biff Wruszek and
Marcus Demuth
will attempt to become the first kayakers to
circumnavigate Isla Grande Tierra del Fuego, a trip over 1,100 miles in one
of the harshest maritime climates in the world.
The attempt to be the first kayakers to circumnavigate
Tierra del Fuego is a fundraising expedition for "Achilles", a NYC based
nonprofit that provides athletic opportunities, such as running and
kayaking, to disabled athletes.
The most challenging part of the trip will be the East
coast of Tierra del Fuego, a coast so treacherous it has never been
attempted by kayakers before.
Additional information can be found on the
expedition's website.

Manta Ventures' SeaPack desalination systems
will be carried by both Marcus and Biff. The SeaPack systems will be
their last resort for hydration in the event that fresh water cannot be
located for survival.
S
eaPack Emergency Water
Supply, an essential Kayak Fishing Gear Product. Kayak Fishing is
becoming a very popular sport throughout North America and the world.
Kayak fishing allows fisherman the opportunity to fish remote areas of
the ocean, lakes, smaller bodies of water than traditional fishing boats
and also provides fisherman with access to smaller channels and
connecting bodies of water. Kayak fishing is one of the best ways to
access lakes, rivers, and streams throughout North America.
SeaPack: Introducing the world's first and only osmotic seawater desalination kit. Intended for
emergency use, the SeaPack produces a life-saving drink directly
from seawater. Perfect for use on your off- shore boat, sea kayak or for
use in your life raft. The filtered drink is very similar to the juice from pressed
grapes and provides 480 calories from each half liter -- an important energy
source during emergencies. The tight osmotic membrane rejects a full 97% of the salt.
Because the SeaPack is passive, there is no pumping involved. This is obviously
an advantage if the user has been injured or exhausted and would have difficulty operating a
pump-style system.

SeaPack is a revolutionary concept in emergency water and
fluids for ocean survival.
Powered by forward osmosis and our unique membrane filter,
the SeaPack emergency water supply kit rejects 97% of salt and generates a
lifesaving fluid containing 20% sugar while providing 480 calories per half
liter.
The SeaPack is a small, lightweight, portable water desalinator that
stows away easily inside of a kayak or life raft. SeaPack boasts simplicity of
operation: Inject one 4 oz grape syrup charge into the green port and fill the
SeaPack with saltwater through the red port. Nature takes over from there,
osmotically drawing sweet fresh drinking water through the emergency water
membrane filter while rejecting sea salts, bacteria, viruses and heavy metals.
Each SeaPack emergency water kit contains enough syrup charges to
produce 2.5 liters of survival drink and emergency water. Additional
charges may be purchased and the SeaPack emergency water kit can be used over
again.
During an emergency water situation at sea, reliability and simplicity
are vital. The SeaPack emergency water kit makes a perfect survival drink for
kayak fishing.

The SeaPack will filter salt water, brackish water, even muddy water or
questionable fresh water and make a clean drink. The key to the SeaPack’s
reliability is its ease of operation. Simply fill the emergency water kits'
filter red port with seawater (dirty water) and squirt one of the enclosed syrup
bottles into the green port. The forward osmosis membrane filter does the work
for you. Pure water molecules are attracted to the electrolytes (sugars) in the
syrup and they pass through the pores of the membrane. The pore size is 3-5
angstroms (0.3-0.5 billionths of a meter) so emergency water molecules can pass
through and 97% of salts are rejected*. Mud and all pathogens (viruses,
bacteria, cysts) are also rejected to EPA standards. Purity levels of SeaPack
emergency water supply are similar to costly reverse osmosis machines. Since
there is no pumping, the SeaPack emergency water kit never clogs and requires no
energy to operate other than the osmotic pressure that the syrup provides. Safe,
Simple, Reliable and an ideal compliment to your Kayak Fishing gear.
